Meet The Owners

Greg and Janis Swart
Greg and Janis met while they were both employed as nurses at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital in the early ’90s. Greg is a graduate of Naches High School and Janis from Selah High School. They were married in 1996 and celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary in 2021! Greg and Janis live in Selah with three amazing children, Carson, Jessie, and Christian.
Greg was employed by Cornerstone Medical Clinic in Yakima as an ARNP for 8 years before opening his own clinic, Yakima Avenue Medical Clinic in 2009. He was voted Washington State’s Nurse Practitioner of the Year that same year. A couple of years later, Yakima Avenue Medical Clinic moved across the street to their current location and became Best Practices Medical Clinic.
Skip forward to 2020 when a local hospital system closed their medical clinic in Selah. The opportunity became available for Greg and Janis to join Sunny and Sheeba John and reopen the empty clinic, forming Best Practices Healthcare Center in Selah. We are very excited to be offering Selah’s first ever Urgent Care Clinic as well as Family Practice.
It is a personal honor to have the opportunity to provide the best possible medical care that we can to the residents of Selah and Yakima. Janis is proud to have grown up in Selah and to have been a member of the Selah community since she was born. Her dad owned and operated Wenas Feed and Rental in Selah for over 35 years, where she grew up pumping gas and loading feed for friends and neighbors.
Greg and Janis have a passion for independently owned family business and their goal is to serve our community with the same kind of old fashioned, meaningful care that they grew up with.
